Bandolier is the most complete carcass bull in the breed, combining tremendous muscle, growth, and carcass into one package. Considered the most powerful 598 son ever, Bandolier was the top-indexing calf with a weaning ratio of 115 and a yearling ratio of 116 in his calf crop at Sunny Valley Farms. This now rare and valuable sire was selected by Doug Hoff, Paul Hill and Dick Beck as the top-selling bull of the past Sunny Valley Farm Sale. In the most recent National Angus Sire Evaluation, Bandolier is the sixth highest ultrasound Ribeye bull in the breed. He also ranks for ultrasound in the top 4% for % Retail Product; 15% IMF. He also ranks in the top 10% for Weaning; 1% for Milk; and 10% for Yearling Weight.
Doug Hoff describes Bandolier as the breed's leading muscled sire. His dam was one of the most powerful and productive cows walking. The now-deceased dam of SVF Bandolier records a progeny weaning ratio of 114 on four natural calves and a progeny yearling ratio of 111 on two head. She was the top-valued cow of a past Sunny Valley sale while the grandam of this bull is the Sunny Valley foundation Pathfinder Dam, Primrose Lady 446 GDAR who is considered one of the all-time greatest producing daughters of the legendary Pathfinder Sire, Traveler 124 GDAR. Bandolier's progeny are wide-based, deep, easy-keeping cattle. His daughters have perfect udders. At Hoff's he sired the top Weaning Weight calf, Axehandle, in 2000. At Assman's, he sired the number 2 Weaning Weight bull "Leader" described as the most powerful bull in their entire 2002 offering. Chris Earl at Sunny Valley Farm says Bandolier sired their best calves in 2001 and 2002. And here at Black Grove we are ecstatic about our first calf crop. Two Sunny Valley Farm Bandolier daughters were the high-sellers in the 2003 Foundation Female Sale held in conjunction with the National Western in Denver. Bandolier out of a Right Time x 1905 sold half interest for $33,000. Selling for $25,000 was a Bandolier x Right Time x 163. The dam, 127G, is a full sister to Black Grove's herd sire SVF Right Time 126G. In addition, a Bandolier x 572-H, Right Time x 1905 daughter and full sister to our donor Black Grove Everelda Entense 305 sold for $25,000 at the Three Trees 2004 Sale. Another daughter recently sold for $40,000 in the FairView Dispersal. Unfortunately, Bandolier is now deceased and his semen and progeny are very rare and valuable. His uniqueness as a carcass bull with muscle that sires great females is drawing rave reviews. Black Grove is especially pleased to have bred a large selection of Bandolier progeny including donors: Black Grove Chloe 250, Black Grove Forever Lady 266, and Black Grove Everelda 305, Black Grove Erica 054 and young herd sires: Black Grove Bandolier 210, Black Grove Bandolier 236, Black Grove Bandolier 263. Be sure to take advantage of this rare opportunity to acquire Bandolier cattle at Black Grove. |
