BT EVERELDA ENTENSE 814L is one of the most unique donors in the industry. This rare individual was acquired at the Beartooth dispersal after John Carrell, BT’s manager of many years, described her to Walter Shealy as the second greatest daughter ever produced by the legendary Sitz Everelda Entense 1905; second only to 57D. Her sire is the great old maternal bull GDAR Rainmaker 340. He produced some of the greatest females in the history of the breed including Sitz Everelda Entense 1137 who lived to be 20 years old. As you know, older genetics do not have the statistics that the young animals possess due in part to the bias in the association’s database for turning generations. But make no mistake the longevity and productivity of 340 daughters is much more reliable than the biased statistics with low accuracies. Many breed experts believe 814L’s dam, Sitz Everelda Entense 1905, is the second greatest cow in the history of the breed. She produced more than $1,600,000 in direct progeny sales at Beartooth Ranch including BT Everelda Entense 57D who set a Montana record valuation for a cow sold at public auction in 2001. 1905 lived to be 20 years old. 814L has longevity and functionality bred into her on both sides of her pedigree. It is easy to see when one observes her tremendous phenotype, her structural correctness, her feet, her udder and her deep-ribbed capacity. She is a moderate-framed, extremely easy-fleshing thick-topped and heavy-muscled female. Although she has a massive and powerful body, she has a beautiful, feminine head like her dam. 814L is in the top 1% for Milk EPD, top 3% for BEPD, top 15% for $W, top 25% for $G, and top 30% for UREA EPD. In spite of the older genetics on both the sire and the dam side of her pedigree, 814L has positive carcass and ultrasound numbers for marbling, %IMF, and Ribeye. She is a -1.1 for Birth Weight EPD, an I+.37 on scrotal circumference EPD and has a +4.00 on $EN. This is a tremendous set of statistics given the age of the genetics. 814L has the genetics for longevity and stayability which are so valuable to the cow-calf operator. This coupled with her overall set of numbers gives us unusual flexibility in her matings going forward. She is being flushed to OCC Emblazon and Leachman Right Time this spring. Look for her progeny in our upcoming sale or call us to see how you can access this unique donor. |
